Wasted $60 on those vacuum sealer bags from the big box store, warning you all now
So last month I finally got a vacuum sealer off Facebook marketplace for $25, figured I'd start buying meat in bulk and freezing it to save cash on groceries. Went to the store and grabbed a box of name brand sealer bags for like $18 thinking they'd be fine. Used about 15 of them over two weeks and 6 of them lost their seal in the freezer, ended up with freezer burned chicken thighs and a pork shoulder that got that nasty ice crust all over it. That's roughly $25 worth of meat I had to toss out plus the $18 for bags, and then I bought another $20 box thinking it was a fluke. Nope, same problem. A buddy at work told me to just get the generic rolls off Amazon and cut them myself, got 4 rolls for $22 and not one single seal has failed in 6 weeks. If you're trying to meal prep on a budget, don't sleep on the cheap rolls, the brand name stuff is a straight up ripoff. Anyone else got a sealer bag brand that's actually held up for them long term? Cause I'm scared to try anything new now lol.
