Went to the new discount grocery on College Avenue and walked right back out

I had heard good things about this place, supposed to be 30% cheaper than the regular stores. But I walked in and the produce section smelled like old wet cardboard. Like something was rotting behind the displays. The meat counter had chicken packaged two days past the sell by date with a manager special sticker on it trying to hide it. I get that we all want to save money but there's a line between budget and unsafe. Has anyone else run into this at those smaller discount chains or did I just catch them on a bad day?

Three different people told me that same store has a persistent mouse problem in the back room. My neighbor who used to stock shelves there said they had to throw out whole pallets of cereal and pasta because of droppings, and the management just scrubbed the boxes and put them back out. Did you notice any gnawed corners on the boxed goods or was it mostly the produce and meat that turned you off?
