A trick with bus tickets in Lisbon saved me over 100 euros

I was in Lisbon for a week and kept buying single metro tickets, which added up fast. The problem was the tourist info desk just pointed to the machines. I finally asked a local shop owner near my hostel how they got around. He told me to buy the 'Viva Viagem' card for 50 cents and load a 24-hour pass on it, not single trips. That pass cost 6.40 euros and covered all trams, buses, and the metro. I used it to go to Belem, the castle, and all over the city in one day. Doing the same trips with single tickets would have been over 20 euros. It's not advertised well at all for visitors. Has anyone found a similar local transit card trick in other European cities?

The 72-hour transport pass in Berlin was a lifesaver last spring. It covered all the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams, and buses for one flat rate, which was way cheaper than buying single tickets to all the museums and neighborhoods. I only found out because my hostel had a tiny note about it on their bulletin board.

Sounds like a basic tourist tip tbh.
