Choice between bus and overnight train in Morocco, bus won big

Last month I had to pick between a 10 hour night train from Marrakech to Tangier or the local CTM bus for about half the price. I took the bus, spent $18 instead of $40, and honestly slept better because the seats reclined more. Got in at 7am with enough energy to walk the medina before noon. Has anyone else skipped the fancy option and found the budget one was actually smoother?

spent $18 instead of $40 and slept better" yeah that's basically the universe telling you that fancy train tickets are just a scam for people who like paying extra to sit upright. I mean, the only thing I ever got from a night train was a stiff neck and a guy snoring loud enough to wake the dead. Bus seats reclining more is honestly the whole game, forget the curtains and the little snack cart. Sounds like you won the lottery and also got to walk a medina before noon, which is a hell of a lot more than I can say about my last bus trip where someone brought a live chicken on board. Maybe it's just me, but I'd take a sleepy chicken over a $40 ticket any day.
