Found a $7 tool that saved me $200 in checked bag fees

I got one of those portable luggage scales for 7 bucks on Amazon, and it stopped me from overpacking by 6 pounds on a flight to Chicago last month. Has anyone else used something small like that to avoid those surprise fees at the counter?

Yeah, just gotta be careful with those cheap ones. I tested mine against the scale at the gym and it was off by almost 2 pounds. Now I always set it a few pounds under what I actually want to pack, like if the limit is 50 I aim for 48 on my scale. Also check the battery once in a while, low battery makes it read way wrong too.

Just remember those scales can be off by a pound or two so always leave a little wiggle room.
