Hostel in Barcelona had a secret free breakfast hack last month

I stayed at this place called Yeah Hostel in Barcelona last month and found out if you go down to the common room at 7am, they put out leftover pastries from the night before for free. The staff guy told me they do it every morning but don't advertise it anywhere. Has anyone else found hidden free food at hostels like that?

Oh man, I mean I get why that seems like a cool find but honestly that kinda rubs me the wrong way. Hostels already advertise cheap prices and then pull stuff like this where you have to hunt for basic breakfast options. Maybe it's just me but if they're gonna offer food they should just be upfront about it instead of making it some secret club thing. Idk it feels a little sketchy like they're trying to make you feel lucky for getting crumbs when really they're just being cheap. I've stayed at a few hostels that do legit free breakfast and post it everywhere and that's way better in my book.

Found a hostel once in Barcelona where the "free breakfast" was basically half a baguette and a sad-looking jar of jam hidden behind the front desk.
