Hostel in Oslo changed my mind about booking dorms
I always thought private rooms were the only way to go for budget trips... but I stayed at the Anker Hostel in Oslo for $35 a night and met a guy who showed me how to get free museum passes with the Oslo Pass hack. The dorm was actually quiet enough to sleep in, and splitting a pizza with strangers saved me like $20. Has anyone else had good luck with hostels in expensive cities?

The free museum pass thing is actually legit (Oslo is insane expensive otherwise), but the real hidden gem at Anker is their basement sauna - I stumbled on it by accident and it was empty on a Tuesday night, best $5 I ever spent in Norway.

The sauna thing is a solid tip, I'd pay $5 for that any day. Dorms can work in pricey cities if you're lucky with roommates. Split pizza is the real MVP of hostel life.
