I used to think couchsurfing was not for me, but I gave it a try
I always stayed in hostels to save money, but thought couchsurfing was too risky. After reading many positive stories online, I decided to test it on a trip to Seattle. I started using a couchsurfing site for my stays instead of paying for beds. This saved me over $150 in three days and led to great local tips. Now I mix couchsurfing with other budget options for every journey.

Yeah, I was in the same boat thinking it was sketchy until a friend wouldn't stop talking about it. Hearing how much you saved and the local advice you got actually makes it sound worth a shot. Guess I might have to give it a look next time I travel.

Totally! It's funny how trying the thing you were avoiding sometimes works out best. I almost didn't book that way either, but it ended up being the highlight of the whole trip.
