My coworker swore by booking Tuesday nights, I tested it for 3 trips in Chicago

So my buddy Dave who travels a lot for work kept telling me to book hotel rooms on Tuesday nights specifically because rates drop then. I thought it was total nonsense, but I tried it for three separate trips to Chicago last fall. Every single time the same hotel was about $30 to $40 less per night compared to booking on a Friday. I even checked the exact same room type and dates, just moved my search day. Has anyone else found that specific weekday booking actually matters, or did I just get lucky with the market? Maybe it's a Midwest thing?

Wait, is this actually a real thing or did we both just hit the same weird luck? I gotta admit, I used to think weekday booking was total internet folklore, like checking your horoscope before a flight. But I ran my own little test last winter in Chicago too, not exactly the same hotel, but same neighborhood, and yeah, Tuesday searches were consistently cheaper by like $25. It's wild because I figured hotels just changed prices based on how full they were, not the day you happened to click. Now I've started shifting all my search days to Tuesday and it's saved me enough for a decent steak dinner each trip. Do you think this works in other cities, or is Chicago just weirdly set up for midweek deals?
