Pro tip: My flight got canceled in Lisbon and I saved $200 on a hotel by doing this

My budget airline canceled the last flight out, stranding me at the Lisbon airport at 11 PM. Instead of booking the overpriced airport hotel, I walked to the nearby train station and took a 15 minute ride into the city center. I found a clean, basic hostel for 35 euros a night, which was less than half the price. Anyone else have a go-to move when your travel plans fall apart in a foreign city?

Honestly, 35 euros for a hostel in Lisbon is wild. I was there last summer and even the sketchy places near the airport wanted 80 a night. You must have gotten crazy lucky or found the one spot no one else knows about.

Sounds like a normal travel hack, not some life changing secret.
