I got stuck in Lagos, Portugal for 3 extra days when my budget flight got cancelled, but I ended up finding a $15/night hostel with an amazing local host who showed me secret beaches. Has anyone else had a travel disaster that actually made the trip better?

Secret beaches and a $15 hostel? That's basically a travel influencer's dream... minus the part where you're stuck crying in an airport terminal for three days first.
