Swapped my hostel bunk for a guesthouse bed after a conversation in a Budapest kitchen

An older Dutch guy at the common table told me he spent $30 a night on a private room with breakfast included versus $18 for a dorm bed and realized after doing the math that the extra $12 was absolutely worth it for solid sleep and not worrying about my gear, has anyone else made that switch and never looked back?

Location matters too, Budapest is one place but try that in Zurich.

I was just reading about how Zurich has some of the strictest rules in Europe for street performers and buskers, they need like a permit and there's noise limits and everything. Budapest is way more relaxed, you can pretty much set up anywhere and play as loud as you want. So yeah, location totally changes the whole thing, even if the laws look the same on paper.
