TIL the front desk at a hostel in Dublin saved me $60 by telling me to take the bus instead of the airport taxi
I was about to grab a cab outside because I was dead tired, but the guy said the 16 bus runs straight there for about 3 euros. Now I always check the local bus routes before I book any airport transfer, does anyone else have a city where the bus beat the taxi that badly?
I had the same thing happen in Rome a few years back. Taxi from Fiumicino to the city was going to run me like 50 euros, but the guy at my hotel told me to take the Leonardo Express train for 14. Took me 30 minutes and dropped me right at Termini station. Ever since then I always look up train and bus options before I even land anywhere. The savings add up fast when you travel a lot.
