Warning: My reusable water bottle cracked on a flight to Denver last week

It exploded in my carry-on right after takeoff and soaked all my clothes, has anyone else had a bottle fail at high altitude?

And they don't just leak, they can actually crack or split right along a seam. I've seen it happen with a couple different brands where the plastic gets brittle from cold then the pressure change just snaps it. A friend of mine had a Nalgene literally split from top to bottom on a flight to Seattle last winter, water everywhere in her backpack. Plus it's not always about being packed wrong, sometimes the bottle has a tiny stress fracture you can't even see until it gives under the pressure. The sudden decompression in the cabin is real, even if it's not a Hollywood explosion.

Bit dramatic to call it an "explosion" don't you think? Bottles get some pressure change at altitude but it's usually just a leaky seal situation. Maybe your bag was just packed weird.
