Why does nobody talk about booking flights from a different country's website?

I was trying to get from New York to London for under $500 and kept hitting a wall on every US site. On a whim, I checked the British Airways UK site, and the same flight was listed for 380 pounds, which was about $480 at the time. I used my normal credit card, no VPN or anything tricky, and it went through fine. Saved me over a hundred bucks just by changing the .com to .co.uk. Has anyone else tried this for trips to Asia or South America?

I always thought those stories were just travel hacks, but I saved 60 bucks on a Tokyo hotel last year by booking on their Japanese site.

Did the same thing in Barcelona, booked on the Spanish version of a hotel chain's site. The rate was about 40 euros cheaper per night for the exact same room. Just had to use a browser translator to get through the booking steps.

Yeah, the key is to clear your cookies or use a VPN set to that country too... sometimes the site still catches on and shows the higher rate.
