Ditched my $200 monthly meal kit subscription for a $40 weekly bulk cook session
I used to spend about $200 a month on HelloFresh because I thought it was the only way to meal plan without wasting food. Then in January, I sat down and realized I was throwing out half the herbs and tiny sauce packets anyway. Now I spend $40 every Sunday at Aldi in Atlanta, cook 4-5 meals in 2 hours, and freeze portions. I save about $160 a month and actually eat more of what I make. Has anyone else swapped a subscription for a simple weekly prep routine and seen big savings?

Isn't it funny how we get sold on the idea that convenience is the only way to get things done? I see this same pattern with people and their lawn care services or those cleaning subscription boxes. We pay someone else to do something simple because we're convinced we can't handle it ourselves, but then we end up throwing money away on things we don't use. Your bulk cooking method sounds like a smart way to cut through all that noise and just do what works.

The whole subscription thing feels like paying extra to feel organized, when really you're just paying extra.
