Got sucked into a $60 'budget meal kit' trial that auto-renewed for $120 more

Signed up for one of those cheap first box deals from a meal kit company back in March. Used a prepaid card so thought I was safe. Turns out they charged the card anyway and I didn't catch it until my bank sent an overdraft notice. The food was decent but not $180 worth. Anyone else get burned by those subscription trials?

Totally agree with you @hill.jade... these companies are getting too smart with how they push charges through. I've heard of people having to dispute transactions for months because the prepaid card company won't back them up either. It's like they've built the whole system to make it easy for them and hard for us to cancel or fight back. The worst part is they'll send you a ton of food you didn't order and then blame you for not catching the charge fast enough...

Prepaid cards aren't even safe half the time with these subscriptions. They seem to find a way to push through anyway. Same thing happened to me with a snack box company, charged my prepaid card like I had real money in there. Ended up just canceling the card entirely to stop the madness.
