I found a stat about how much coffee shops make on drip coffee and it blew my mind
I was looking at a report from a small business group in Seattle last week. It said a standard $3 cup of drip coffee costs the shop about 25 cents to make. That's a huge markup I never thought about. It made me realize my daily coffee run is a real budget leak. Has anyone else cut back on something simple after seeing the numbers?

But you're paying for the space and the vibe too.

Totally get what you're saying, @olivia248, the vibe is a real thing. I mean, I've paid more for a cute coffee shop just to work somewhere nice. But you gotta watch out for places that charge way too much for a basic drink and call it a vibe. It starts to feel like they're just using that as an excuse, you know? I've learned to check the menu online first so I don't get stuck paying eight bucks for a bad latte in a pretty room.

Yeah, but a vibe shouldn't be a cover for a bad product. If the coffee itself is terrible, then the whole experience feels like a rip-off, no matter how nice the chairs are. I want a place that actually cares about what's in the cup, not just how it looks on Instagram. Paying for the space is fine, but the drink still needs to be worth the price.
