Meal prep was the budgeting tip I rolled my eyes at for years
I laughed when my sister told me she saved $80 a week just by cooking Sunday afternoons. Then I tried it with a $30 batch of chili and rice that lasted me five days. Anyone else find a money saving trick they were dead wrong about?

Dude same here. I was shocked how much just bringing lunch from home saved me, turned out I was dropping like $12 a day on fast food without even thinking about it.

Honestly that whole "it adds up" thing is so real and @davis.ivan is right about the big picture. Tbh I started bringing my own coffee instead of buying it and saved like $80 a month and it made me feel like a financial genius. Ngl though I definitely went overboard the other way and started hoarding snacks from the grocery store because I was scared of spending money on lunches. Like I had a whole drawer full of granola bars and instant noodles in my desk at work, it was getting ridiculous.

That whole thing where we think something small can't really add up, but then you actually do the math and it smacks you in the face. It's like how people swear by canceling a streaming subscription but then keep three others running, they just don't track the big picture. Once you see one area where the pennies pile up, you start noticing it everywhere else too.
