Overheard a guy at the hardware store talking about mulch delivery fees and it clicked
I was grabbing a new hose nozzle last weekend and this older dude was complaining to the cashier about how he pays $50 every spring for mulch delivery. Said he could haul it himself but his truck bed is too small. I just stood there and did the math in my head. I pay $35 a year for a basic garden cart from Harbor Freight and I load my own mulch into the trunk of my Honda Civic. It takes me three trips instead of one but I save $15 each time plus I get a little workout. That guy probably spent $500 over ten years on delivery fees alone. Made me feel pretty good about my little system even if it looks goofy rolling through the neighborhood with bags stacked to the ceiling. Has anyone else found a dumb simple habit like that which saves a few bucks every season?

Did you ever see that guy's face when he finally figures out he could have just rented a truck from Home Depot for under twenty bucks? My neighbor does that every spring and he brings me coffee when I'm out there with my cart just to rub it in. I still prefer my trunk method though because I don't have to worry about returning anything by a certain time.

@mary_schmidt exactly, trunks are better because no pressure to return it and you can take your sweet time.
