That credit card autopay glitch that hit my account last Thursday

I was sitting at my kitchen table in Portland checking my bank app when I saw a $480 charge I didn't make. Turns out my autopay for the electric bill double-fired because their system had a processing error. I called the credit union right away and they reversed it in 15 minutes, but I almost missed my rent payment. Has anyone else had autopay screw them over? I'm thinking of going back to manual payments.

Makes you wonder how many other systems are one click from chaos.

Oh boy, that brings back a memory. Last year my bank did a system update and it caused my car insurance autopay to fire off three times in one week. I only noticed when my checking account went negative and I got hit with overdraft fees. The worst part was trying to explain to the insurance company why I had a triple payment and needed one sent back. They kept saying it was my bank's fault and the bank said it was theirs. I finally got it sorted after a week of phone calls. So yeah, manual payments might not be a bad idea.
