The $4 library app that made me see my grocery bill differently
Last month I caught myself staring at a receipt from the Safeway on Colfax, wondering why I kept buying those $6 pre-cut veggie trays. Turns out my local library gives free access to a meal planning app, and after one week of using it, I realized I was throwing away almost $30 of produce every single trip. It wasn't about coupons or bulk buying, it was just me never thinking about what I actually cook versus what I grab on impulse. Has anyone else found a free tool that quietly changed their weekly spending without trying to sell you anything?

...and honestly I think you're giving that app way too much credit for what's just basic math. People have been meal planning since before apps existed, my mom used to do it with a notepad and a calculator and she never threw away $30 of produce because she actually paid attention to what she bought. The real problem isnt that you needed an app to tell you not to buy pre-cut veggies, its that you were never forced to face the cost of your own lazy choices until something made it feel like a game. Libraries give you access to a lot of stuff, but no free tool is gonna fix the fact that you walk into the store hungry and grab whatever looks easy. You saved $30 this week, sure, but next month youll be back to the same habits because the app didnt change how you shop, it just made you feel clever for a minute.
