Three years of grocery receipts told me a story I ignored
I dug out a box of receipts from 2021 last week, back when I lived in Austin and shopped at the HEB on South Congress. Back then a cart of basics ran me about $85, and last month the same list cost $140, same store, same brands. I always told myself the jump was just inflation, but adding it up over 36 months showed I was also buying way more snacks and pre-made stuff without noticing. Seeing it in writing made me actually plan a weekly menu, and I got that bill down to $118 this week. Anyone else got an old receipt pile that humbled them into changing habits?

Man, I got receipts from 2020 and I'm scared to even open the box. Probably find out I spent a whole paycheck on frozen pizzas and thought I was being frugal.
