Had a coworker tell me my bullet journal was too messy for tracking work tasks
A guy in my office named Dave kept saying my weekly spreads were a disaster because I didn't use rulers or washi tape. He said proper bujo means straight lines and color codes. I tried his super clean method for two weeks and spent more time making it pretty than actually listing my tasks. My to-do list shrank because I was too busy decorating. Meanwhile my old scratchy mess with random arrows and circles had been getting everything done on time. I went back to my scribble system and I'm faster than ever. Has anyone else had someone tell you your journaling style is wrong when it actually works fine?

Ngl, isn't it funny how people get obsessed with the look of something instead of what it actually does? Honestly, this reminds me of a bigger thing I see everywhere. People think if it doesn't look clean or follow some rule, it can't be right. But real life is messy. Your brain works how it works, not how some internet stranger says it should. Tbh, I bet half those clean bujo folks spend more time erasing mistakes than actually getting stuff done. You found a system that clicks for you, that's what matters. Screw the rulers and washi tape.

People always forget that bullet journaling started as a way to get things done, not a scrapbooking contest. If your scribbles work better for tracking tasks than a Pinterest spread, that's actually closer to the original BuJo idea. Dave missing the whole point doesn't mean your system is broken.
