Shoutout to the library in Portland that had a bullet journal display
I was at the main library in Portland last week and they had a whole table set up with bullet journals you could flip through. The thing that got me was that every single one was super artsy, like full of watercolor flowers and fancy lettering. It made me wonder if people think you need to be an artist to start one, which is just not true (my own journal is mostly messy lists). Has anyone else seen a public display of journals that felt a bit off?

Wait, they only showed the super artsy ones? That's a huge miss. My first bullet journal looked like a toddler's grocery list, and that's the whole point. It's a tool, not an art show. Showing only perfect journals makes it feel like a high bar to clear, and that's going to scare people off from even trying. Why wouldn't they include at least one simple, functional example to show it's for everyone?

My first weekly spread was just the word "Monday" written three times in shaky pencil. It did the job.
