Blew $180 on a used band saw sharpener for my meat saw blades, and I still think hand filing wins
Everyone at the shop told me to get a sharpener when I took over the blade station. I found a used one on Marketplace for $180, drove two hours to pick it up, and got it running in my garage. The thing eats about 40 minutes per blade and if my set is off by a hair it just bakes the mistake right in. I went back to hand filing with a $14 triple cut file and a jointer, and my blades cut cooler and last longer. Maybe I'm just bad with the machine, but the old timers I learned from never owned one and their bandsaw blades were sharp as anything. The sharpener is sitting under my bench now. Anyone here actually get good results from one, or did you all go back to hand work like me?
