Vent: My whole day in the shop got messed up by a dull boning knife
I was breaking down a 120-pound hog at the counter yesterday morning when my main boning knife just started tearing instead of slicing. I realized I'd been putting off sharpening it for weeks. Had to stop everything, grab my stone, and spend 15 minutes getting the edge back. Anyone else have a go-to knife they always forget to maintain until it's too late?

Bro, your knife was basically a butter knife at that point.

Wait, you let it get that bad?

Oh man, that's the worst feeling! I keep a ceramic honing rod right on my station now. A few quick passes before each big job keeps my main blade from getting to that tearing stage. It takes ten seconds and saves so much headache.
