Does a 4.8 star average really mean anything anymore? I'm torn on this.
I was looking at a local shop in Portland last week that had a 4.8 star average across 300 reviews. But when I sorted by newest, 8 out of the last 10 were 1-star complaints about the same issue. So do you trust the overall average or do you dig into the recent stuff? I feel like the average gets padded by old reviews from 3 years ago that don't reflect the current business. What's your take on how much weight to give the overall score vs the recent feedback?

4.8 stars across 300 reviews is still a solid number, but yeah 8 out of 10 recent reviews being bad is a huge red flag. I'd trust the recent ones over the old padded average every time.

Funny how the old reviews don't seem to matter much anymore when the new ones tell a different story.
