Dropped $70 on a waterproof phone pouch for a float trip and it leaked on day one
I bought a $70 waterproof pouch from a big outdoor store in Denver for a 3 day float trip on the Colorado River back in June. It had great reviews, so I trusted it with my phone and car keys. By the second afternoon the inside was damp and my phone screen was acting weird. I'm back to a $15 dry bag with a zip top and it has never failed me. Has anyone found a phone pouch that actually holds up in real water, or am I just unlucky?
Man, I used to roll my eyes at people who said the cheap bags work better. I figured you get what you pay for, so I dropped $50 on a "pro" pouch for a boundary waters trip and it soaked my phone in a rainstorm on day two. Now I just use a $12 roll top bag from walmart and double bag it in a ziplock, zero problems in three years. The fancy ones seem to fail right at the seal where the plastic meets the closure.
