Had a buyer tell me my photos looked like garbage straight up
Some guy left a review on my Etsy shop saying the product photos looked like they were taken with a potato. At first I was mad, but then I looked at my listing again and yeah he had a point. My lighting was awful and I was just snapping pics on my phone in a dark room at 10 PM. So I spent $40 on a cheap lightbox from Amazon and watched a 10 minute YouTube tutorial on staging. Now my sales actually went up like 30% in the last 3 weeks. Has anyone else had a random harsh review that ended up helping your shop?

Huh, it's funny how getting told something is bad can actually be the best thing for you. That kind of honest feedback cuts through all the polite noise and just shows you exactly what to fix. Kind of makes you wish more people were that blunt about everyday stuff, like telling you your fly is down instead of just letting you walk around like that.

Oh man that's a great story! I had something similar happen with my own shop last year. Someone straight up told me my photos looked "depressing" and they weren't wrong - I was using one lamp with a yellow bulb. I grabbed a $25 lightbox and a clip on daylight lamp from the hardware store and it changed EVERYTHING. Good lighting makes even a mid phone camera look pro.
