I finally checked the receipt from a diner in Reno and noticed the review card had a fake 5 star pre filled
Stopped at a diner off Virginia Street in Reno last week and the food was fine. When the check came, the cashier handed me a little card that said "Tell us how we did!" with a QR code. I flipped it over and someone had already bubbled in all 5 stars on the paper version. Not a customer, the card itself was printed with the dots filled in. I asked the cashier about it and she laughed and said the owner thinks it boosts their average. That got me thinking about how many reviews I have trusted that were just pushed by the business. I left a 3 star review and said the food was fine but the card was shady. Now I wonder how many other places do this and I just never noticed. Has anyone else seen a business pre fill their own review cards like this?
