Pro tip: I got a review that was clearly for a different product and had to figure out what to do
I was checking my shop's reviews on Etsy last month and saw a 1-star rant about a broken blender motor. I sell handmade leather wallets. The buyer had clearly mixed up shops. I sent a polite message pointing out the mistake, but they never replied or changed it. It's still there, dragging down my average. Has anyone else had a review for a totally wrong item, and did you get the platform to remove it?

Honestly, I see it from the buyer's side too. They had a bad experience and left a review where they thought they bought the item. Mistakes happen. As a seller, you have to accept that public feedback isn't always fair or accurate, that's just part of running a business online. If platforms started removing every mistaken review, where do you draw the line? Someone could just claim any bad review was for the wrong product. You have your response there for others to see, so future customers can judge for themselves.

Took me a while to learn this lesson myself. I had a buyer once leave a 1-star review complaining the blue widget I sent was the wrong color. I just replied saying sorry about the mix up, here's the link to the blue one I sold and the green one they wanted. That reply actually turned into a few extra sales.

You know, I used to get really mad about wrong reviews, but @charles_price makes a good point about the response being there for others to see. Changed how I look at it.
