PSA: Stop ignoring the 1-star reviews with detailed complaints

I used to just glance at the overall rating and maybe read a couple 5-star reviews before buying anything on Amazon. Then I got burned on a $60 air purifier that had great ratings but like 40 people all said the motor died after 3 months. Now I always sort reviews by lowest rating first and look for patterns. Has anyone else saved money this way or do you still trust the overall score?

Wait, 40 people said the motor died and you still bought it? That's like seeing a "beware of dog" sign with claw marks on it and jumping the fence anyway.

Yeah I read somewhere those models had a bad batch of transmissions too.
