Rant: I thought those glowing reviews for a $20 phone case were all fake

I needed a new case for my phone last month and saw one with hundreds of five star reviews. I figured they were all paid for or bots. I bought it anyway because it was cheap. The thing has survived two drops on concrete already, no cracks at all. Has anyone else been totally wrong about a product because of review bias?

You've basically described my entire online shopping life. I always assume the good reviews are fake, then get mad when the cheap thing I bought actually works great. It's like my brain refuses to believe a bargain can be decent. Now I'm stuck wondering how many other amazing cheap things I've skipped over because I was too cynical. The internet has trained me to distrust everything, even a solid phone case.

Man same here! I grabbed a $15 screen protector off Amazon last year, figured it would be junk. Dropped my phone face first on gravel two weeks ago and not a single scratch. Now I'm paranoid I've been passing up good stuff just because I assume everything cheap is garbage.
