Rant: The $60 'waterproof' rain jacket failed on a drizzle in Seattle

Got caught in light rain last Tuesday near Pike Place. Jacket soaked through in 10 minutes, just a sprinkle. Learned the hard way that 'waterproof' means 5,000mm rating these days. Real rain gear starts at 10k plus taped seams. Anyone else get fooled by the cheap listings with no spec sheet?
