Read 40 reviews for a pressure washer, the one with 3 stars told the truth

I was picking between two units, a $279 gas model and a $199 electric. The 3 star review mentioned the gas one had a vapor lock issue after 10 minutes of use. I dug into the replies and 11 people confirmed the same thing. The electric had complaints too but they were mostly about the hose not reaching. Got the electric and it handled my patio fine. Why do we all gravitate to 5 star ratings when the middle reviews usually point out the actual flaws? Has anyone else had better luck trusting the 3 star crowd?
