The day I stopped trusting 5-star Amazon reviews for kitchen gadgets
I used to just sort by highest rating and pick whatever had the most reviews. That's how I ended up with a $30 vegetable chopper that fell apart after 3 uses. Then I looked at the 1-star reviews and saw the same problems I had, all buried under fake-looking 5-star posts. Now I only read 3-star and 4-star reviews for the real talk. I also check the review date, anything with 50 reviews all in one week is a red flag. Has anyone else gotten burned by a product that had way too many glowing reviews?

Oh great, another 5-star wonder that fell apart faster than my New Year's resolution to eat better. I learned the hard way that sorting by "most reviews" is just asking to get played. Now I hunt for the 3-star people who actually describe how the thing works after a month.

The third time I bought a blender, I finally wised up and looked at the 3-star reviews. One dude wrote a whole paragraph about how the seal started leaking after exactly 2 months of daily smoothies. That little detail saved me from another overpriced paperweight. Now I always sort by "most recent" too, not just the star rating. I figure if someone's having issues right now, I want to know about it before I click buy. The five-star people just post a picture of it sitting on their counter anyway.
