Watch out for review swaps on Amazon basics items

Ordered a $35 desk lamp with 900+ five star reviews and it died on day 4. Dug deeper and found like 60 reviews mentioning they got a free gift card for posting. Has anyone else noticed this pattern with smaller generic brands off Amazon?
