When 4 of 5 reviews said the blender was fine, but mine was a smoke show

I bought a $75 personal blender after reading a ton of buyer reviews, all saying it handled frozen fruit like a champ. Got it home, threw in some ice and a banana, and it sounded like a lawnmower fighting a raccoon. The base started smoking on the third spin, so I returned it and grabbed a different brand with mixed reviews just to test the system. Now I only trust reviews if at least 20 people mention the same issue, and even then I look for date stamps. Has anyone else had a product where the review score was totally opposite of your actual experience?
