A customer called out my drawer slide placement and I actually listened

I had a client last month in Austin who builds custom kitchens on the side. He pointed out that I was mounting my undermount slides 5/8 inch from the bottom of the drawer box instead of 3/8. I told him that was how I learned 10 years ago and he just said 'measure the depth of your drawer face again.' Turns out the face overhang was causing the drawer to hit the cabinet frame on close. I spent a whole afternoon redoing four drawers and it fixed that annoying bounce they had. Now I check every single time before I drill. Has anyone else had a customer teach them a trick that ended up speeding up their whole process?

Wait, have you tried spacers on your jig? I had a similar thing where a customer showed me his trick of using a spacer block cut to the exact face overhang, and it saved me from having to remeasure every single time.

Did your drawer bounce happen right away or did it get worse over time? I'm wondering if the 5/8 placement was only a problem because of your specific face overhang or if it's always a bad idea. Also curious if you changed your slide positioning jig after that or if you just measure each time now lol.
