Lost 3 days to a sliding miter saw that was never calibrated

Bought a used Delta at an estate sale in Portland for $80, spent all week cutting trim and every angle came out 2 degrees off. Double checked the fence, the blade, even the floor level, then finally tested the bevel gauge with a square and it was lying to me. Anyone else ever trust a used tool's setup before checking it yourself?

Eighty bucks and three days of cussing later, I finally learned the real lesson here: estate sale tools are like stray dogs, you gotta check their teeth before you bring em home. I spent all day Tuesday convinced my table was warped because I trusted that little bubble level on the base, turns out the whole gauge was just a lying liar. My crown molding now looks like it was cut by a very drunk octopus, but hey, at least the square was honest about my floor.
