Spent $600 on a Felker blade and it actually paid off quick

Used to buy the cheap $40 blades for my tile saw. They burned out every 2 months. Finally dropped the cash on a Felker TM-75 blade. Cut through porcelain like butter for 8 months now. Has anyone else made the switch to premium blades and seen big time savings?

Actually, quick correction - the Felker TM-75 is a saw model, not just a blade. I know because I bought the same saw (and it's great, don't get me wrong) but the blade that comes with it is a different story. The stock Felker blade is decent but it's not the $600 upgrade you're thinking of. A standalone Felker blade, like the TM-7 or TM-9, usually runs around $100 to $150 tops. So either you got a really good deal on the whole saw and blade combo, or maybe you're mixing up the saw price with the blade price. Either way, I totally agree that spending more on a good blade pays off over time - I've had my Felker blade for over a year now and it still cuts clean through 12x24 porcelain without chipping. The cheap blades just don't hold up to the hard stuff.

Wait, so you're saying the $600 was for the whole saw and not just the blade? That actually makes a lot more sense now, because I was sitting here thinking "man, that's a serious chunk of change for one blade." I get where you're coming from with the stock blade thing though. It's like buying a good truck and assuming the tires it came with are top of the line, when really they're just okay (you know, good enough to get you down the road but not built for heavy loads). I've been burned by that myself with other tools where the stock stuff is just passable. Glad to hear your Felker blade is still going strong after a year though. That kind of reliability is exactly why I've started just paying more upfront instead of screwing around with cheap stuff that gives you headaches later.
