Warning about that new 'fast-dry' finish from the big box store

I used it on a maple vanity top for a client in Tacoma, and after three months the finish clouded up and felt sticky. The old stuff from the same brand never did that, so I think they changed the formula to make it dry faster. Has anyone else had this problem with their newer cans?

Yeah @lindahunt hit it right. I had the same problem on a cherry nightstand I did in Seattle. The old stuff took longer to cure but it held up for years. Now it's like they swapped out the real solids for some cheap plastic junk that sweats after a few months. Total waste of money on that can.

My neighbor in Bellingham had the same issue on a pine table. Honestly, it feels like every company is rushing products out the door now.

Man, I used to give companies the benefit of the doubt, like maybe I just got a bad one. But seeing the same exact problem pop up on different things, like your neighbor's table, really shows it's a pattern. It's not just bad luck anymore. They really are cutting corners everywhere to get stuff out fast. Makes you wonder what the point of buying new is if it falls apart just as quick as old stuff.
