Watched a guy in Denver sand his entire kitchen job with just a 1/4 sheet pad sander

I was at a cabinet install in Denver last spring and this older guy shows up to do the final sanding on a set of hickory cabinets. He pulled out a tiny 1/4 sheet pad sander and went to town for like 6 hours straight, no orbital, no random orbit. Anyone tried finishing with just one of those little things instead of a full size sander?

Was he even trying to get it sideways or just doing parade laps? The whole point of that car is feeling like you're driving a toy, not worrying about apex speeds.
