A customer in Denver told me my cable runs looked messy and it stuck with me
He said, 'It works, but it looks like spaghetti behind your wall plate.' I started using a 6-inch service loop and velcro ties on every job since then, even if it takes an extra five minutes. What's one small thing a customer said that made you change your routine?

Yeah, that's a good one... I had a client point out some faint scuff marks on baseboards from my tool bag. Now I always throw down a cheap drop cloth even for quick jobs, just to be safe. It's such a small thing but it really does make the place look cleaner when you leave.

Remember reading about a contractor who started using those non slip furniture pads under his toolboxes? He said it stopped floor scratches and kept things from sliding around on hard surfaces. Makes sense for quick jobs where a full drop cloth feels like overkill. That extra minute of prep really does seem to save a lot of hassle later.
