Found a trick for fishing lines through fireblocks without a flex bit
Ran into a solid fireblock in a townhouse yesterday in Arlington and my flex bit was back in the truck. Tried using a plain old coat hanger with a loop on the end and some electrical tape to hold the cable. Worked way better than I expected on the first try. Anyone else got a go-to hack for when you forget a tool?

Man I did the exact same thing last year on a job in Ballston. Grabbed a wire hanger from my truck and taped the coax to it with some super 33, but I wrapped it a little too thick and it got hung up halfway through the block. What worked better for me was making a small loop at the end of the hanger with just a little piece of tape to pinch the cable in place. That way it slides through easier and you don't lose the connection when you hit the fireblock insulation. Also helps to bend the hanger at a slight angle near the loop so you can guide it past the studs without snagging.

Loop works fine in drywall, but fireblock insulation eats it every time.
