Pro tip: a guy in Tulsa said to stop running my drop along the same joist as the romex, and it fixed my internet issues
Had a job in Tulsa last month where the customer kept losing connection every evening around 7. I ran the coax along the same floor joists as the electrical lines just out of habit, nice and neat. The old tech rode with me one day and said "you're wrapping that signal right around the noise, no wonder it drops when everything kicks on." I moved the drop to the opposite side of the floor and ran it through a different stud bay, and the customer hasn't called back in 6 weeks. Now I want to know, do you all keep coax totally separate from power runs or does it not matter as much on short drops?
That "wrapping that signal right around the noise" line is spot on. I had a similar deal where the drop ran next to a bunch of romex in a crawlspace and the guy kept dropping whenever his AC kicked on. Moved it over a couple joists and it cleared right up. Short drops probably matter less but I just keep them apart now out of habit, takes the same time either way.
