Remember when we had to carry a separate meter for every signal?
Back in the early 2000s, my truck was full of gear, a TDR for coax, a signal level meter, a voltmeter. Now my JDSU HST-3000 does it all in one box. The change came around 2010 when everything went digital and IP-based. What's the one old tool you miss using, even if the new stuff is better?

Actually, the HST-3000 came out way before 2010... I remember using one around 2005.

Yeah Jake's right on the timing, but that just makes me wonder... if the tools were already getting better by the mid 2000s, what took so long for the actual work to change? Was it just companies being slow to buy the new gear, or was there something about the old analog signals that the first all-in-one boxes couldn't handle right?
