TIL the real reason some old coax fittings fail so fast

I was reading a report from a telecom engineering group last week, and it said something that made me stop. They found that over 60% of premature fitting failures in residential installs are from overtightening, not from cheap parts like everyone says. I always blamed the fittings from the big box stores, but the data shows we're just cranking them down too hard trying to get a perfect signal. It actually damages the center conductor over time. Has anyone else switched to using a torque wrench or a specific tool to avoid this?

My uncle's a cable guy and he's been saying that for years. People just don't listen.

My cable guy friend (shoutout to @michaels95's uncle) uses a torque wrench now.
