Unpopular opinion: I was terminating coax wrong for 3 years until a guy in Tulsa said one sentence
I always thought my compression fittings were fine because they passed a wiggle test, but a tech from Tulsa watched me do one on a job in Broken Arrow and just said "push the cable in until you feel the second click." I had been only going to the first click since I started installing 3 years ago, which meant the center conductor was never fully seated. He pulled 6 of my old fittings off a splitter in his van and 4 of them slid right off with barely any pull. I felt sick thinking about all the service calls I blamed on bad splitters or water getting in. Now I do the second click every single time and my callback rate on those runs is basically zero. Has anyone else had a veteran tech point out something tiny like that and it totally changed how you work?
